Private Sector Solutions for Helping Smallholder Farmers

Changing Lives, the flagship publication of the Private Sector Window of the Global Agriculture and Security Program (GAFSP), highlights the ways that GAFSP’s blended finance investments and advisory support unlocks opportunity for smallholder farmers in some of the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. This edition features impact stories about how GAFSP is boosting resilience in the face of climate change and rising fuel prices and improving the lives and livelihoods of rural communities.

The 2024 edition includes impact stories and videos about IFC and GAFSP-supported projects Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kosovo and Malawi, where training and investment support are helping strengthen farmer cooperatives, streamline local value chains and boost food security. This edition also includes highlights GAFSP support from Working with Smallholders: A Handbook for Firms Building Sustainable Supply Chains as well as the recently-launched IFC Food Loss Climate Impact Tool, an emerging markets-focused tool that estimates GHG emissions associated with crop loss.
